Reader Recommendation Contest

Christian Books for Tweens and Teens (CBTT) wants to encourage readers to give helpful feedback to other readers about the books on the CBTT site. Therefore, each month, we will have an ongoing Reader Recommendation Contest where I will award a commenter with a paper copy of any book listed on the CBTT site (including any book in the series it represents). In lieu of the paper copy, the winner may optionally choose an Amazon gift certificate to purchase an ebook version of any book on CBTT’s website. In either case, the prize value will not exceed $10.00.

Current winner: DORIE! for May 2015

How to Enter

Simply rate a book THAT YOU’VE READ listed on CBTT and write a short, helpful recommendation in the comments beneath the full book review. You can use the search engine to find the author which will then list his/her books. Click on the “Full Review” button of the book you’ve read and fill in the “Leave a Comment” boxes at the bottom as follows:

  1. You must fill in your first name only,  or pseudonyms are good as this will show on the CBTT webpage.
  2. Email. You must use a valid email (your email) or the system will kick it out.
  3. Website is optional
  4. Choose a rating in terms of one to five stars. 1 star = poor. 5 = Amazing
  5. Type in a comment that you think will help another reader decide about reading this book. For examples: “I recommend this book to readers who _____________.” Or, “I liked this book because ____________.”

Also Note: Leaving a comment will automatically enroll you in CBTT’s Newsletter, however you can easily unsubscribe if you so desire at the bottom of each Newsletter.

How Winners are Determined

The top five helpful comments every month will be thrown into a hat and one will be drawn to win a paper copy of any book on the CBTT site including any book in the series each book may represent (note this currently includes over 320 books). The maximum value per book is $10.00. If the book cost more than that, or is unavailable, I will send an Amazon gift certificate to the winner. Or, the winner may optionally choose an Amazon gift certificate of no more than $10.00 value to purchase an ebook version of any book on CBTT’s website.

See Official Rules below for more details.

Official Rules

Reader Recommendation Contest

Christian Books for Tweens and Teens (CBTT) will run a monthly Reader Recommendation Contest. Each month, I run a contest to reward a commenter for posting a helpful review/recommendation left on an individual post on the Christian Books for Tweens and Teens website during the previous month.

Prize: Winner’s choice of any book listed on CBTT website, including any other books in the series (if any) represented by each title. The total value is limited to $10.00 (USA) and may be claimed as a paper book or an Amazon gift card for the value of an Amazon ebook version of that title (again, not to exceed $10.00 in value). I will also offer a B&N ebook version for those Nook readers out there.

Contest Entry

Entrants must assign a 1-5 star rating on any book (that you’ve read) listed on CBTT, AND write a short, helpful recommendation beneath the full book review. The review/recommendation can be one or two sentences in the comment section below each individual book review on the CBTT website. For Examples:

“I would recommend this book to readers who ______________________________________________.”

Or,

“I liked this book because ____________.”

For example, one person commented on C.S. Lewis’ The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe:

“I loved this story with an amazing analogy to the battle between God and evil and Christ’s victory on the cross!”

Parents may also enter their children’s thoughts and comments on the book—actually this is preferred! And just note “My son/daughter liked this book because ____________.”

The website requires that you sign in with your first name or pseudonym and email address in order to comment. This informs the webmaster, currently Glenn Haggerty, that a comment has been made. (If you do not have to sign in, the website pulls the name and email you used for CBTT’s Newsletter). The webmaster will consider every legitimate comment effectively posted within the month in question as an entry into the monthly contest and will consider the email address used to sign in as the one to use to contact the contest entrant if s/he is the winner. Your email address will not be published.

Contest Winner Selection

The webmaster of Christian Books for Tweens and Teens will choose five (5) entries he finds most helpful or insightful from the reviews/recommendations left within each monthly period. If there are less then five, they will all be thrown in “the hat.” Then he will use random.org to declare one of those five that period’s winner. The winner will be announced in the CBTT Newsletter and the current winner posted on the CBTT Website (under the Contests tab). Each winner will be personally notified using the email address used to post the comment on CBTT’s webpage. The winner has until the next contest period’s end date to reply to the webmaster’s email, indicating which ebook prize of choice s/he wishes to be gifted to her/him. Should the winner be unreachable, fail to respond to notification within the following calendar month, or fail to provide correct contact data, the prize is forfeited and not transferable and will not be awarded to anyone else for that particular period.

Entry Frequency

One written review/recommendation per book will be considered as a contest entry. If the commenter happens to write more than one review/recommendation for the same book, the first one will be considered as the contest entry for that particular title. A maximum total of fifteen (15) review/recommendations left on different individual book posts during the contest’s monthly period are allowed. If no contest entries are submitted during the month of the particular contest period, meaning no reviews/recommendations have been left, no prize will be awarded for that contest period.

Eligibility

Entrants must be 18 years or older and legally allowed to participate in contests as allowed by their local laws. Please do not enter if you are not 18 years or older. However, your parent may enter a review on your behalf for you and although he or she would collect the prize should they win, they can of course pass it on to you! J United States residents only, void where prohibited. No purchase necessary. Entering the contest is considered a confirmation of eligibility on behalf of the entrant in accord with these rules and any pertaining to local/federal laws.

Permissions

Writing a review/recommendation in the comment section of Christian Books for Tweens and Teens gives the webmaster of CBTT permission to use the review/recommendation on CBTT’s Newsletter and Facebook page if that particular book goes on sale to help readers decide whether or not they want to purchase the book.

Contest Beginning and End Dates

Contests begin on the first day of each calendar month of the year 2015 (beginning in May 2015), and end at midnight Central time on the last day of that same month. The winner will be announced by the 15th of the following month and will have to the end of that month to claim his/her prize.
