Discover these organizing products that can restore peace to your home and reflect God’s order. Learn top tips, 10 must-have tools, and the steps to declutter and steward well.

I remember the moment I realized I could help people organize their homes. I was at a friend’s house, and we were preparing to leave for an outing. She was scrambling to pack her bag, the kids couldn’t find anything to wear, the buzzer was going off, and I could see her frustration (and maybe embarrassment) rising. She was trying to find the keys so I could start loading the kids. She finally found them under a stack of unopened mail on the counter.

Later that day, as I reflected on that chaotic morning, I realized that disorganization wasn’t just inconvenient—it was stealing women’s peace. That’s when I began my journey as a professional organizer. Now, 16 years later, as a wife, mom, business owner, and homemaker, I see organization not just as a tool for managing life’s chaos but as a way to steward the resources God has entrusted to us.

If you’ve ever felt like your home is out of control or your clutter is stealing your peace, take heart.

Time-Blocking Tips for Busy Moms https://club31women.com/time-blocking-tips-for-busy-moms/ Wed, 25 Sep 2024 01:00:00 +0000 https://club31women.com/?p=87702 Time-Blocking Tips for Busy Moms

Here are some time-blocking tips that can help moms manage their time and protect their mental energy so they can focus on what truly matters.

If you’ve never tried time-blocking tasks and projects, you may be in for a time-saving treat today.

1. What Is Time-Blocking?

Time-blocking is a method of scheduling your day by assigning specific time blocks for tasks or categories (like work, home, self-care). It helps manage distractions and ensures important tasks get done by dedicating focused time. The more we’re interrupted or try to multi-task, the less productive we are.

2. Why It Works for Busy Moms

Time-blocking is a powerful tool for busy moms because it helps you get more done in less time. You only need to prepare one time for a long stretch of work.

For example, if you are meal prepping, you prepare your kitchen once for a whole day of prep that will last a week. This saves time for getting everything out every day, setting up things every day, and then cleaning it up everyday to prep for dinner. Doing it once instead of 5-6 times saves time and mental sanity.

How to Get Your Kids Happily Involved in Cleaning House https://club31women.com/getting-your-kids-happily-involved-in-cleaning-house/ Wed, 05 Jun 2024 01:00:00 +0000 http://club31women.com/?p=18552 How to Get Your Kids Happily Involved in Cleaning House

Do you struggle to get your kids involved in cleaning the house? Here are some suggestions to help them feel part of making their house a home.

When my first child was just 3 years old, I began having her help me empty the dishwasher. The plastic plates and cups were in a low cupboard where she could reach them and easily put items away. She emptied the dishwasher like this until she was old enough to reach the upper cupboards and handle the glass carefully. At that point, she was also able to load the dishwasher. She was probably about 8 years old at that time.

Once she turned 14 years old, she and her two sisters helped in the dish rotation. Each night, they rotated who loaded, hand-washed, and dried/put away the dishes after each meal.

In addition, I continue to train my younger children in different chores around the home. These are important habits to have, and we’ve learned a few things along the way.

Here are two essential ingredients when training your children to help around the home:

Teamwork

There’s a difference between working side by side and working together.

Homemaking Before Social Media and How It Is Not an Aesthetic https://club31women.com/homemaking-before-social-media-and-how-it-is-not-an-aesthetic/ Wed, 01 May 2024 01:00:00 +0000 https://club31women.com/?p=86883 Homemaking Before Social Media and How It Is Not an Aesthetic

If you feel too much pressure for homemaking to look a certain way, it’s time to step back and remember God’s Word and the freedom it brings.

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.”
Colossians 3:23-24

Homemaking Before Social Media

When I became a mom, there were no iPhones, no social media, no Pinterest. I held onto my Blackberry for as long as possible and didn’t join Facebook until 2010. This gave me several blissful years with nothing and nobody to which I could really compare my homemaking experience beyond what I personally encountered with other wives and mothers.

I was free to go about the care and keeping of my home and family without feeling it needed to look a certain way. Yes, there were debates about if and how you should sleep train your babies because this is a topic that is argued over almost as ferociously as eschatology. But it was so easy to avoid because I didn’t have it scrolling by me every time I looked at a screen.

Baby-Steps Into Home Decorating https://club31women.com/baby-steps-into-home-decorating/ Wed, 17 Apr 2024 01:00:00 +0000 https://club31women.com/?p=86801 Baby-Steps Into Home Decorating

Home decorating doesn’t need to be expensive or overwhelming. Start small and see how you can personalize your house into your home.

No matter where we are in life, how many people live in our home or how old they are, we all want a home that fits what we need, want, and like! Often we don’t know where to start or what makes a room “work,” so we try to change everything, all at once—and often end up regretting it. It seems like interior decorators have some magic touch we’ll never have. But as a decorator myself, I’m here to tell you, it’s not true! Decorating is a skill you can learn, starting with learning some fundamental rules of decorating. And if you’re just starting out, one of the key rules is: start with baby steps!

Start Small

One of the first pieces of furniture I can remember painting was our old dining room set. A huge black hutch, a large oval black table with two leaves, and eight black chairs were no match for me and this new stuff called chalk paint. By the time I was done with the hutch and table, I had convinced myself I could work with the black chairs because the thought of painting even one chair made me want to cut off my hands.

Design Your Kitchen for Family Connection https://club31women.com/design-your-kitchen-for-family-connection/ Wed, 17 Jan 2024 04:00:00 +0000 https://club31women.com/?p=86241 Design Your Kitchen for Family Connection

Having a family connection regularly is so pinnacle to the growth and nurturing of our children and teens. Learn how to make space in your kitchen work in your favor!

As a mom, I fondly recollect silly childhood stories and long to forge new ones with my growing boys. I once heard a parenting expert say that the most effective method to encourage a teenager to talk is to engage them when they don’t have to make eye contact—aka, in the car.

This expert reasoned that when the young person is doing something else, the pressure subsides and sharing seems more approachable. As I have attempted this method, I’ve discovered the kitchen is another prime place to get those hands working and perhaps get a mouth moving. By assigning a responsibility and working alongside each other to accomplish a common goal, my kids and I connect in simple ways that we otherwise wouldn’t.

Moments spent cooking, stirring, and chopping, sharing the countertop, and sharing a table together have become a strong base to cement lasting foundations. I believe the kitchen is a place to build and connect with family members over a common goal.

5 Tips to Organize Your Home This Year https://club31women.com/5-tips-to-organize-your-home-this-year/ Wed, 03 Jan 2024 04:00:00 +0000 https://club31women.com/?p=86039 5 Tips to Organize Your Home This Year

Are you looking for some tips to organize your home? Let this be the year you let go of clutter and enjoy peace.

The secret room, once used as a play space, has transformed into an overwhelming disaster of clutter. The bin of wooden trains I’m trying to pull out for a friend’s visit lies buried beneath piles of clutter.

How did it get like this again? I know exactly how. It happens over and over. Our family members change their room style and they stash the old decor in there. One child moves out and his things are stored in there temporarily. The room holds our extra paper towels and toilet paper packages. Off-season clothing is dug through and never returned to its original bin. A hamster passes and we keep the cage “in case.” Schoolwork is stashed from old courses.

Clutter is delayed decisions

It’s clutter. Almost all of it is delayed decisions. The fast, easy solution… in the moment.

The secret room is our family’s assigned place for clutter. It’s actually not a secret. It’s the unfinished attic space off what used to be our boys’ room when we first moved into this house 19 years ago.
