I remember the moment I realized I could help people organize their homes. I was at a friend’s house, and we were preparing to leave for an outing. She was scrambling to pack her bag, the kids couldn’t find anything to wear, the buzzer was going off, and I could see her frustration (and maybe embarrassment) rising. She was trying to find the keys so I could start loading the kids. She finally found them under a stack of unopened mail on the counter. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Later that day, as I reflected on that chaotic morning, I realized that disorganization wasn\u2019t just inconvenient\u2014it was stealing women’s peace. That\u2019s when I began my journey as a professional organizer. Now, 16 years later, as a wife, mom, business owner, and homemaker, I see organization not just as a tool for managing life\u2019s chaos but as a way to steward the resources God has entrusted to us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you\u2019ve ever felt like your home is out of control or your clutter is stealing your peace, take heart. Today, I want to share my top 10 organizing products that have helped me stay organized in my and my clients’ homes\u2014and can help you, too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Warning: I never advise people to buy products before they know exactly what they need. The organizing steps are as follows: 1) Sort, 2) Purge (declutter), 3) Assign Homes to items, and ONLY then do we 4) Set Limits using containers. I also advise shopping your own home first. You might already have something that could work. (The final step is 5) Maintain.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When you are ready to invest in a few helpful products, here are my favorites for organizing.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

1. Shelf Dividers<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Have you ever opened your linen closet only to be greeted by a leaning tower of towels? Or, for me, it’s my closet shelf with my stacks of jeans, leggings, tanks, sweaters, etc. Shelf dividers are the perfect solution. These handy tools slip onto your shelves to create clear boundaries, keeping stacks of towels, sweaters, or even handbags in neat order. They\u2019re a simple way to create instant calm in your closets. These are my favorite<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Label Maker<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

There\u2019s something almost magical about labels. Whether it\u2019s marking pantry jars, bins in the playroom, or files in your home office, labels remove the guesswork and ensure that everyone in the house knows where things belong. A label maker turns chaos into clarity and is a must-have for any homemaker. I like the one that Sam’s Club or Costco sells or this one is my favorite on Amazon.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. Drawer Bins<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We all have that one drawer\u2014the dreaded \u201cjunk drawer.\u201d Drawer bins are a lifesaver for creating order out of chaos. Use them to group items like pens, batteries, scissors, or sticky notes so you can actually find what you\u2019re looking for when you need it. This set of 25 works well<\/a>. I used them in my office drawer here: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. Drawer Dividers<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Much like their bin cousins, drawer dividers are perfect for organizing clothing drawers. Socks, underwear, and even T-shirts can be neatly corralled into sections. These dividers also work wonders in kitchen drawers to separate utensils. I like these bamboo dividers for shorter drawers<\/a> or these white ones for taller drawers<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5. Baskets<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

There\u2019s a reason baskets have stood the test of time\u2014they\u2019re versatile, beautiful, and functional (like these wa<\/a>ter hyacinths<\/a>). Use them to store everything from throw blankets in the living room to toys in the playroom. Bonus tip: Choose baskets with lids for items you want out of sight. (Like these<\/a> or these<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

6. Cardboard Magazine Holders<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

These affordable, lightweight holders aren\u2019t just for magazines. Use them to organize mail, school papers, or a subject you are studying. They can even double as stylish storage for small items like scarves or mittens when lined up neatly on a shelf. My office is in a bedroom, so I use these on the shelf in the closet with categories for my materials, books, and notes. These are affordable and sturdy<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

7. Command Hooks<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Simple yet effective, Command Hooks are a game changer for creating storage in unexpected places. Use them inside cabinet doors<\/strong> (these<\/a>) for hanging measuring spoons, in your closet (or the side of your dresser, like me) to hold necklaces (these<\/a>), or on walls for kids\u2019 backpacks (these would be sturdier<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

8. Clear Storage Bins<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The beauty of clear storage bins is their transparency\u2014you can see what\u2019s inside without digging. Use them in your pantry for dry goods (my all-time favorite<\/a>, pictured below containing different categories), under your bed for seasonal clothing (these<\/a>), or in the garage for holiday decorations. They make finding what you need quick and painless.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

9. Over-the-Door Organizers<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I love asking myself, “Where do I have empty space?” It’s often vertical space on doors or walls. Take advantage of vertical space with over-the-door organizers. These are perfect for shoes, cleaning supplies, crafts or accessories (these basic ones<\/a>), baby items (like this<\/a>), or even pantry items like snacks and spices (try these<\/a>). It\u2019s a great way to maximize storage without wasting valuable floor or shelf space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

10. Turntables (Lazy Susans)<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

These spinning wonders are ideal for corners and hard-to-reach spaces. Use them in your pantry, especially in the corners (these 18-inch ones<\/a>, pictured above in the corners), for oils and spices, on high shelves that are hard to reach, or even rectangular ones (like these<\/a>) in your refrigerator. A simple spin brings everything within reach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How Organization Reflects God\u2019s Design<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

As believers, we know God is a God of order. When we create order in our homes (just like Paul speaks of order in the church in 1 Corinthians 14:33), we reflect His character and make space for His peace to reign. Organizing isn\u2019t about creating a Pinterest-perfect home\u2014it\u2019s about stewarding our resources, especially our time, so we can focus on what truly matters: loving God and serving others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019ve found that organizing my home frees my heart and mind to focus on what\u2019s most important<\/a>. I\u2019m less distracted, more present, and better able to serve my family and guests. Isn\u2019t that what we all desire as homemakers?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Challenge for You<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I challenge you to choose one area of your home this week to declutter and organize. Then, see what product could help you maintain order there. Maybe you\u2019ll start with shelf dividers for your closet or label the bins in your pantry so your family knows where things go. Pray over your organizing efforts, asking God to give you wisdom and creativity.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Remember, small steps lead to big changes. As you bring order to your home, you\u2019re creating a space where God\u2019s peace can dwell\u2014a place of refuge for your family and anyone who enters your door.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
