You came near\u00a0when I called you<\/em>, and you said, \u201cDo not fear.\u201d<\/em>

I have found fear to be like a shadow of something that appears larger than it is. Fear and anxiety have a way of distorting reality to make what is in front of us feel all-consuming. <\/p>\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I remember the Holy Spirit once whispering so gently to my heart to no longer live my life bullied by the shadow of fear but to set up camp in the confidence of God\u2019s truth. There is nothing wrong with acknowledging fear; the problem happens when we give fear authority in our lives over the truth of His Word.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fear won\u2019t flee by ignoring it or trying harder to overcome it in your own strength. You must instead allow the light of Jesus to shine into the shadows of fear surrounding you. Freedom from fear takes place when you allow His love to consume the fears that have consumed you.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 1 John 4:18, we learn that His perfect love casts out all fear. So allow His love to invade even your deepest fears. Stop living bullied by the shadow of fear. Face it with confidence, not in your own power but in His. This is easier said than lived, but nothing is impossible with God\u2019s help.<\/p>\n\n\n

Three Truths<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Here are three truths to help you experience victory over fear:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Fear is loud. His voice is louder.<\/strong>
    When you are familiar with God\u2019s voice, you will be able to identify even His softest whisper over the roar of fear. As loud and scary as fear may sound, His voice will be your guide and lead you to freedom and peace. \u201cMy sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me\u201d (John 10:27).

  2. Fear is powerful. He is all-powerful.<\/strong>
    Fear is powerful and persuasive, but only God has ultimate authority. It\u2019s okay to acknowledge fear, but always return to the promise of His sovereignty. His Word has authority over every fear. Use His Word as your weapon, and you will walk in victory. \u201cNow Christ has gone to heaven. He is seated in the place of honor next to God, and all the angels and authorities and powers accept his authority\u201d (1\u00a0Pet. 3:22 NLT).

  3. Fear has a lot to say. He has the final say.<\/strong>
    Fear will tell you many things. It will fill you with concerns, confusion, and doubt. Despite how fear might make you feel, decide that you will not allow what contradicts His Word to direct you. His Word is unchanging, unfailing, and has the final say. Walking in His way leads to life. \u201cThen Jesus came to them and said, \u2018All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me\u2019\u201d (Matt. 28:18).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    So we say with confidence, \u201cThe Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid.<\/em> What can mere mortals do to me?\u201d<\/em> Hebrews 13:6<\/p>\n\n\n
